Former Hockey Pro Joins NAI Carolantic Realty

Raleigh, NC – June 1, 2016 - NAI Carolantic Realty, a leading commercial brokerage company in the Triangle, announced today that former NHL hockey player Tim Brent will be joining the firm in July as a Commercial Broker.

“Tim has a proven track record of leadership and incredible discipline, which are essentials for successfully transitioning into the brokerage business,” said Steve Stroud, SIOR, Chairman of NAI Carolantic. “I’ve seen first-hand his work ethic and his commitment to helping people achieve their goals. We are very happy that he’s decided to be part of our brokerage team.”

Mr. Brent’s decision to join NAI Carolantic reflects his longstanding interest in commercial real estate and is the culmination of his involvement in various real estate investments over the past several years, including an investment/land transaction through NAI Carolantic that left him pleased and impressed by the team’s knowledge and professionalism.

“My wife and I felt the time was right for me to retire from hockey and fully pursue my passion for commercial real estate,” said Brent. Noting that he looked forward to joining the NAI team, he added, “We have already been made to feel a part of the NAI Carolantic family.”

Born and raised in Cambridge Ontario, Canada, Mr. Brent has played hockey since he was four years old, moving up to play in Major Junior Hockey at the age of 16. He was drafted in 2002 to play for the Anaheim Ducks and continued to play professional hockey for 12 years, ultimately representing Canada in three different world hockey championship tournaments. As Captain of Team Canada in 2002, he successfully led his team to win a Gold Medal in the Czech Republic. In 2004, he was Assistant Captain of the Canadian team when they won a Silver Medal in Helsinki, Finland.

During his hockey career, Mr. Brent played for the Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Carolina Hurricanes. In the AHL, he played for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, Portland Pirates, Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins, Rockford Ice Hogs, Toronto Marlies and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He also spent two seasons abroad playing in Magnitogorsk, Russia where his team won the Russian (KHL) Championship known as the Gagarin Cup.

Mr. Brent is affiliated with the NHL Players Association and is a member of the Professional Hockey Players Association. He is involved with various charities and is married to Eva Shockey Brent, a Canadian hunter who is cohost for her father, Jim Shockey’s, television show on the Outdoor Channel. She was the first woman in 30 years to be on the front cover of Field & Stream magazine. The Brents are passionate conservationists, and enjoy hunting and fishing.
